Local Collaborative is a craft co-working business venture that aims to provide high-quality, synergistic office space in Los Angeles’ beach communities. Local’s flagship location is ideally situated steps from the ocean in Hermosa Beach.
Local Collaborative worked with Gensler Architects and various consultants to refine the 4,500 sq. ft. space for this historic building buildout in the former Bijou movie theater. The ornamental proscenium arch that formerly framed the movie screen now frames eight glass-walled private offices and one conference room. Between the offices are 50 “hot desks,” set up on five live-edge tables, each milled as single sheets from Oregon walnut trees. The space is lit by a 26-foot high, circular skylight. This collaborative office space harnesses the essence of the South Bay beach community and is located one block from the beach.
